Now in its third year, 2014 Topps Strata Football continues with the brand's focus on shadow box-like autographed memorabilia cards. The popular inserts return as a showcase box hit, something high-end in product that's cheaper than most out of the gate.
Every 2014 Topps Strata Football hobby box guarantees one Clear Cut Autographed Relic. The checklist includes more than 30 rookies. The distinct cards take a layered approach with a large jersey swatch acting as a base, followed by the player image and an autograph on a piece of die-cut acetate. Numbered parallels include Bronze, Sapphire, Emerald and Ruby. All but Bronze come with patch swatch. There are also four different one-of-one Topaz parallels that have either gloves, a football swatch, a Nike Swoosh or a team patch.
Strata Signature Relics are similar in their approach but have an even more three-dimensional appearance. Inserted as a case hit, all are numbered. Hobby-exclusive patch parallels come in the form of Ruby, Rivet and one-of-one Rivet Swoosh. Rivet cards swing open to show the three distinct layers that make up the card. The checklist includes more than 35 rookies.
Non-rookies can be found in Veteran Strata Signature Patch cards. It's limited to just five players, so they not going to be easy to pull. Rivet parallels are numbered to 5.
Clear Cut Dual Autographed Rookie Patch Book Cards (1/1) pair up first-year players. The product also has Quad Autograph Book Cards (1/1) with four rookie signatures.
2014 Topps Strata Football hobby boxes come with a second signed card. Strata Autographs are essentially signed base parallels. Numbered parallels include Bronze, Topaz, Sapphire, Emerald, Ruby and Quartz (1/1). Strata Signatures takes the shadow box concept but removes the memorabilia.
Strata Relics (1:18 packs) come with memorabilia from both rookies and veteran players. In addition to basic versions, there are Bronze (#/150), Topaz (#/90), Sapphire (#/70), Emerald (#/35), Ruby (#/10) and Quartz(1/1) parallels. All except Bronze are patches.
2014 Topps Strata Football has two basic insert sets that combine to land five per hobby box. Strata Die-Cuts (50 cards) are shaped like the NFL Shield. Quarterback Die-Cuts highlight the best play callers in the game. Both inserts have autographed parallels.
As for the base set, it has 200 total cards -- 100 veterans and 100 rookies. Rookie parallels include Gold (1:3 packs), Bronze (#/150), Topaz (#/99), Sapphire (#/50), Emerald (#/10), Ruby (1/1) and Printing Plates.
